Dot Behrns, APN, FNP-C

Dot Behrns
Dot serves as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Family Care Associates of Effingham, SC. Dot previously worked at St. Anthony's from 1977 to 1995, serving as a Registered Nurse and Director of Quality Management from 1988 to 1991.

In 2004, Dot was awarded the Illinois Rural Health Association (IRHA) Rural Health Practitioner of the Year Award, nominated by St. Anthony's. She serves as President of the Effingham County Health Department and is a member of the Alliance for a Healthier Effingham County. She serves on the Board of the Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nurses (ISAPN) and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Illinois Rural Health Association (IRHA), and Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing.



Sister Ritamary Brown, OSF

Sister Ritamary Brown
Sister Ritamary serves as the Health Advocate in Organizational Development at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur. She has served at a number of HSHS Illinois hospital throughout her career. She joined St. Anthony's Board of Directors in 2010.




Carrie Crippen

Carrie Crippen is a lifelong resident of Effingham. After graduating from Effingham High School in 1992, she served in the Illinois Army National Guard for six years.  She has worked at Catholic Charities for about nine years, currently working as the store manager of Second Hand Rose Resale Shop. She also works with other local charities to benefit the Effingham community.  She has been a member of Effingham Noon Rotary for over six years where she has served as Club President and currently serves as Assistant District Governor.



Kelly Haller, MD

Kelly Haller, MDKelly Haller, MD, specializes in obstetrics and gynecology and practices at Effingham Obstetrics and Gynecology, LLC. Dr. Haller has been a member of St. Anthony's Medical Staff since 1994. She received her medical degree from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, in Springfield.

Dr. Haller actively participates in community fundraisers, including but not limited to Harmony Playground, Crisis Nursey, Community Support Ssystems, In His Hands Ministry, Breast Cancer Awareness, Ballard Nature Center and Family Life Center. She also has hosted a large number of physician assistant, nurse practitioner and medical students through her medical practice. A single mother of three children active in Illinois High School and Junior High School rodeo, she has also provided emergency services at some of the events across Illinois while her children are competing. Born and raised in St. Peter, Illinois, she has been a resident of Effingham County for over 20 years.


Ken Johnson

Ken Johnson, MD, MPH, FACEP, currently serves as Vice President and Chief Physician Executive for Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS).  He also previously served as Chief Physician Executive for HSHS Eastern Wisconsin Division. He began his career with HSHS as the Medical Director for Emergency Services at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Prior to joining HSHS, he served as an Emergency Room physician at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee, WI; and at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL.  Dr. Johnson received his Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University A&M; his Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University Medical School; and his Masters of Public Health from the University of Illinois – Chicago, where he also completed his residency.

John Kingery

John Kingery


John is the President of the Board of Kingery Printing Company. He founded Kingery Printing Company in 1968, which produces high-quality color work, often encompassing long print runs, for a national customer base. John has served on St. Anthony's Board of Directors since 1998.


Father Michal Rosa

Father Michal Rosa currently serves as the Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish as well as serving as the school Chaplain at St. Anthony High School.


Bob Schultz

Bob is the president of the Schultz Investment Company, a private family office, and is Chairman of AKRA Builders, Inc..  In addition, he serves on a range of other corporate and non-profit boards.  He is a graduate of both the University of Illinois College of Business and the University of Notre Dame Law School. 




Eric Zeller

Eric has been the administrator of Effingham Ophthalmology Associates since 1996.  He is a life-long resident of Effingham and volunteers on several community boards.  Eric earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. 



Theresa Rutherford, President and CEO

Theresa Rutherford currently serves as President and CEO of HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital.  As President and CEO, Theresa is responsible for all aspects of planning, operations, and financial management of the hospital.  Theresa joined St. Anthony’s in 2013, after serving several years as Chief Operating Officer at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.

In her time at St. Anthony’s, Theresa has successfully led the hospital in advancing technology, enhancing quality, increasing colleague engagement, improving the patient experience, and reflecting transparency with community members.  Under her leadership, St. Anthony’s began offering robotic orthopedic surgery, the only hospital in the area with this revolutionary technology.  She has also led the hospital in receiving state and national accolades for offering advanced quality to patients – being named a 2015 Bronze Award winner for Commitment to Excellence from Illinois Performance Excellence, as well as receiving The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for certification of the hospital’s Joint Replacement Program.   Theresa also led the launch of St. Anthony’s “I Promise” service philosophy, where the patient-centered goals of the team complement the patient-focused objectives of every individual colleague, physician and volunteer. Through this program, Theresa met with each and every colleague as they committed to their “Promise,” reflecting the openness she shares with the staff. Theresa has also demonstrated open communication with area residents, offering Community Town Halls and launching an “Ask Theresa” communication initiative on the hospital’s Web site.

During her tenure at St. Mary’s, Theresa worked closely with the President and CEO in leading the St. Mary’s Campus Redesign of a new Lobby, ER, and Lab, as well as playing a key role with the relocation of all Prairie Cardiovascular’s Decatur services to the St. Mary’s campus. Under her leadership, St. Mary’s Hospital twice received the Bronze Lincoln Award for Quality. Throughout her career, Theresa held several positions at hospitals in Illinois and Iowa including Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg and The Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.  

Theresa is a native of Coffeyville, Kansas. She completed her undergraduate degree in Nursing at Millikin University, Decatur. In addition, she holds a Master’s of Science Nursing Administration and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is also a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
